Dove Karatu Camp

Dove Karatu Camp is a recently constructed luxury lodging situated at the periphery of the Ngorongoro Highlands, enveloped by verdant gardens and abundant coffee plantations within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Northern Tanzania. The camp is managed by Dove Collection, which oversees many properties in Tanzania. The lodge is situated in a verdant landscape, encircled by undulating hills that extend to coffee cultivation regions, gardens, and the Ngorongoro forest. Access to the lodge is available via road transport from Arusha, requiring roughly 3-4 hours of travel on a tarmacked road through Mayukuni and Karatu, or a 45-minute flight to the nearby Lake Manyara airport, followed by a brief transfer to the camp. The camp is convenient and conducive to business for travelers, visitors, and holidaymakers seeking to discover and explore the breathtaking vistas of the three national parks: Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara, and Tarangire National Park.

 

Dove Karatu Camp comprises more than five expansive and comfortable cottages featuring king and queen-sized beds, offering views of the verdant gardens and mountains, all created in an African style with a high standard of luxury. The cottages are elegantly decorated and equipped with private en suite facilities, including flushing toilets, bathrooms with hot and cold showers, mosquito nets, comfy tropical timber beds with clean linens, complimentary bottled water, toiletries, chairs, tables, and slippers, among other amenities. Cottages have private balconies, verandas, and sitting places, allowing you to unwind while appreciating the breathtaking view of the verdant gardens, Ngorongoro highlands, and the surrounding landscape. A crackling campfire pit allows guests to unwind and exchange safari memories while offering comfort during the nights. Rooms are categorized by size and type, featuring single beds for individuals, double beds for couples, and twin or triple/family beds allocated for families.

Meals provided consist of a continental breakfast, lunch, and supper, served by well-trained, amiable, and organized staff. Meals can be enjoyed in your preferred location, either in the dining area or in the garden, which offers a picturesque view of the rolling hills and morning sunrises, particularly in the morning.

A fully stocked bar including a diverse selection of beverages, including local drinks, cocktails, wines, spirits, and international beers, allows you to unwind and enjoy a cocktail or mocktail while admiring the breathtaking view of the vibrant garden, undulating hills, and surrounding landscape.

The Ngorongoro Crater is located in northern Tanzania, adjacent to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area within the Great Rift Valley, encompassing an area of 8,292 km² and is approximately 3 million years old. The crater is the premier location in East Africa, offering stunning and spectacular vistas. The park features various attractions, including the wildebeest migration from the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Salei Plains, Olkarien Gorge, diverse flora and fauna, breathtaking landscape, and numerous additional sites of interest. The park offers many levels of lodging, including budget, mid-range, and luxury options, which are handy and cheap for people visiting the area. The park features short grasses, elevated terrains, and other stunning volcanoes. The area is home to about 25,000 large species, including 26 black rhinoceroses, more than 100 lions, 7,000 wildebeests, 4,000 zebras, 3,000 elands, and 3,000 Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles. The park features various animals, including the Big Five mammals: lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard, and rhinoceros, as well as zebras, impalas, antelopes, and diverse bird species.

Numerous diverse activities are available in the park, including game viewing at the crater and Lake Eyasi viewpoint to observe migrating animals, crater viewing, cultural visits to the local village, hiking in the Gol Mountains in the park’s remote areas, crater rim nature walks, bird watching, visiting archaeological sites such as the Olduvai Gorge Museum, and various other activities. The Park offers a breathtaking perspective of the Ngorongoro Crater, the largest caldera in the world, together with its surrounding regions. There is a greater population of Maasai pastoralists in Ngorongoro Park.June, July, and late January through February are the optimal months for safari tourism in Tanzania, particularly in the Ngorongoro region.
